Yes. The Democratic party didn't start until 1790 and the republican party didn't start until the civil war.

Three independents have been elected president: George Washington, John Tyler and Andrew Johnson. However Tyler and Johnson later joined parties.

One Federalist was elected: John Adams.

Four Democratic-Republicans were elected president: Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Adams.

Four Whigs were elected president: Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, Filmore.

Compare that to 17 Republicans were elected president and 15 Democrats were elected president.

Also 1 Republican became the first and only president to be appointed to the position without being elected president or vice-president: Ford.
