The problem with copying your homework questions directly without stopping to think about it is that "your town" means something different to me than it does to you. The answer for MY town may be different than the answer for YOUR town. However, in the US, state boundaries don't usually change much. If you live in West Virginia, the answer is easy: no (West Virginia was all once part of Virginia). Similarly, most of Maine was at one time part of Massachusetts. Otherwise, most likely the answer is yes... but you'd need to look at historical maps to be sure.
