You may have a bad head gasket and it may be leaking from that. Why when cold i dont know, but if you are losing coolant it may be the head gasket.
In the radiator in the front of the engine
If you are sure the engine is not running hot then it could be a bad coolant temp sender.
That means the engine is over heating / running hot for some reason. Check thermostat, Coolant level in radiator, check for coolant leak on engine somewhere. Fix and repair as needed.
Check the fan relay for the 1996 Cavalier. Also, check the coolant sensor, one of these is most likely bad.
because you broke it!!
A 1998 Chevy Cavalier is an interference engine meaning any timing failure will result in catastrophic damage. A free-running engine will simply stop running until and can readily be fixed.
You probably don't. The water pump is what circulates coolant through the engine block and the cooling system. The engine will soon overheat if the pump is not functioning. This is a bad thing ~
There is coolant in the engine block when the engine is not running. The engine block, heater, hoses and radiator remain full when engine is not running.
P0118 means: Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit HighP0118 means: Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High
Add engine coolant
is coolant leaking from engine?or is it leaking from water pump and running down engine and appears to leak from engine
There is a bleeder valve. It is located on a metal coolant line. The screw for the bleeder is right next to the oil fill neck. It has a stick next to it that says do not vent when engine is running.
