There are a lot of opinions on the topic of oil - especially when discussing the pros & cons of synthetics vs 'dino' (dinosaur remains fossil fuel based oil).
Here is one opinion, mine:
I have settled on using Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend oil in all my vehicles: 98 Tracer, 98 Sable DOHC, 2001 Windstar & a 2002 Focus.
Reasons:
# It's the Ford product recommend / spec
# It's well priced - typically around $2.50/quart - Walmart carries the 5 qt jug for $12.50 (early 2009)
# I don't have to remember what I put in what vehicle Note: Ford issued a TSB (technical service bulletin TSB 02-1-9) regarding the 5w20 superseding 5w30 Owners Manual specifications. Applies to the majority of the car products back to the early 1990's.
See "Related Links" or search on FORD TSB 02-1-9 for more details.
