It was delisted because of a bridge project which would have gone through the valley and was seen as a threat to the universal value of the property.. Arabian Oryx Sanctuary in Oman has also been delisted, which happened in 2007. It was delisted due to the government's decision to reduce the protected area by 90% which UNESCO saw as a threat to the value of the property. They reacted by delisting the property.
