I have a 52 plate Picasso and my slightly dimmer half put 20 pounds of petrol in my diesel car. There was about 5 - 10 pounds of diesel already in the tank. I simply syphoned the tank with a hose and a bucket. doesnt taste nice i know, then filled it with diesel and a fuel treatment and ive had no problems since. this was a year ago now. Its not usually bad this way round as truck drivers put a small amount of petrol in their tanks to stop them freezing in the winter. its when you put diesel in a petrol engine that you've got a problem.
the only safe way is to drop the tank. ( DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR OR START THE ENGINE WITH PETROL IN THE FUEL LINES EVERY THING FROM THE TANK TO THE PUMP WILL NEED TO BE CLEANED. If you had he car towed back home without starting the engine then removing the tank and draining fuel should do. A lot depends on how much diesel was in the tank when you put the petrol in. How much petrol you put with the diesel before You realised the error and whether you got neat petrol up to the injectors. Its a common error running the engine for a few seconds wont matter to much but you don't want petrol in the injector pump at all. If you no very little about mechanics let a professional do it for you as mistakes can be catastrophic.
No it cannot. Petrol and Diesel are different.
because a diesel engine ignites its fuel with pressure, and not with a spark like a petrol engine. that is why a petrol engine does not need as high a compression ratio as a diesel engine
1) Look in the manual. 2) See if it has spark plugs. If it does, petrol. If it has glow plugs instead, diesel.
You can convert a petrol engine into a diesel engine by changing the fuel injectors. The fuel filters will also need to be changed.
First you need to know what engine you have in the Discovery. Petrol or diesel and then the capacity? First you need to know what engine you have in the Discovery. Petrol or diesel and then the capacity?
Diesel engines work in a different way to petrol in that they work on pressure to ignite warm diesel as opposed to petrol engines which have spark plugs. in order to work, there can be no air, air wont ignite!!
you need 13mm spanner, undo the lower slider bolt, rotate the cliper upwards, remove the resevoir cap, push the position back, swap the pads and refit. no more than 30min. ;)
it could be for the spark plug, petrol engines dont need glow plugs, diesel engines do
as a rule a petrol is every 10000 kms and diesel 5000 kms as a rule a petrol is every 10000 kms and diesel 5000 kms
Petrol and diesel engines are internal combustion engines. The internal combustion that turns the engine and powers the wheels is created by the combustion of fuel. No fuel, no combustion, and nothing to drive the wheels.
If u mean steering wheel controls you need a patch lead .
