Have recently replaced the water pump and thermostat and the 1996 astro still has problems overheating the coolant still boils Any ideas?
You need to make sure that your radiator fan is working properly. Some are fixed, some have a clutch that engages them when the engine heats up. Watch your fan when the engine is hot to see if it functions correctly.
You have 1990 Ford Aerostar 30L is overheating we had the thermostat replaced recently and it was working fine for a day now it is overheating again Also the heater is not producing any hot air?
I'm not a mechanic but, I had to replace my radiator to fix the overheating problem on my 1994. That was the last thing I replaced after replacing the water pump, thermostat, and replaced my fan with a clutch fan. have not had anymore problems with it overheating once the radiator was replaced. Flush the coolant first then replace the radiator. Hope this helps.
In the Taurus overheating problems is common. In mine I experience two problems. First it was the thermostat. I replaced it with a new one it's cheap. Then the motor of one of the fans burned out. I replaced it with a new one. You can get one at partstrain.com or car-stuff.com for about 95 dllrs. for 1996 to 2003 for the 1988 to 1995 is a little more, but it's worth it. I haven't…
Why does 1997 dodge stratus keep overheating after water pump replaced thermostat replaced and radiator flushed as well as pressure tested?
Why would the radiator fan continue to run after the engine stops after the thermostat was replaced on a 2002 Nissan Altima?
Ingeneral, the fan will run only if the temperature of the radiator is above the normal range. If the fan is running, then the radiator must be over temp unless the radiator fan thermostat or it's relay is defective. If the radiator truly is over temp then you have a larger over-heating problem You state the thermostat was replaced. if you replaced the fan thermostat then either the radiator really is over temp and it…
2000 Jetta 2 liter motor overheating but no heat from vents when heat is turned on Can this be thermostat any help is appreciated?
Not sure if by your question you mean the thermostat opens slow and the engine overheats or if you mean the engine takes a long time to warm up. If the engine is overheating, more than likely the thermostat is stuck in the closed position and needs to be replaced before engine damage is caused because of overheating. If the engine is taking a long time to warm up, the thermostat is probably stuck in…
1998 olds aurora overheating replaced top and bottom hoses water pump and thermostat still overheating?
If 1999 jeep keeps overheating replaced thermostat radiator and water pump are not leaking what else could be wrong?
My 2000 would overheat at idle; in park & slow traffic. Ran normal on the highway. I 1st replaced the fan relay everyone has been blogging about, engine still overheated. Next attempt for victory, I replaced the temp sensor switch; defeated again. I then replaced the thermostat & haven't had a overheating incident since.
alot of times you can get an air pocket behind your thermostat there is a little trick to make sure this doesn't happen take a 1/8 drill bitt and drill a hole it the flat surface of the thermostat about center from the edge and the edge of plunger on thermostat and this will allow any air from behind it to excape and will not cause any probs with thermostat. good luck hope this takes…
Most of the time it is because the thermostat has gone bad and is not opening at the proper temperature. Cure: replace thermostat. If the thermostat has been replaced, flush the radiator. Buildup of residue in the bottom of the radiato0r will cause overheating, but it is maintained over heating, not temporary.
It depends. I Just fixed an overheating problem on my 98 contour. I replaced the thermostat (did not solve the problem). I then tested both thermostats (I put them both in a pan of boiling water and they both worked fine. Quick Check: When you put the heater on in side the car, if it does not blow hot air, most likely the problem is a blown water pump. Mine was in pieces when I…
What would cause a 1990 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer to overheat I've replaced the thermostat thermostat housing water pump and other miscellaneous stuff but I keep having overheating problems. What do I do?
have you had the head gaskets replaced you might have blown head gaskets or warped heads on the block this is a costly repair check your water for oil or check your oil for water this will help to determin if they are ... have you had the head gaskets replaced you might have blown head gaskets or warped heads on the block this is a costly repair check your water for oil or check…
If the car is overheating or if the temperature gauge is not coming up to normal operating temperature which is normally half way up the gauge then the thermostat needs replacing. As the water pump should be replaced at the same time as the cam belt every 90,000 miles, you should also replace the thermostat and coolant.
You replaced the thermostat in your 2001 Chevy venture but the van is still overheating the top radiator hose is hard and hot to the touch like the thermostat is not opening up please advise?
Your 1999 Buick century keeps overheating you bought this car from an auction They said it needed head gaskets because of the overheating So you did that Then you changed the thermostat water pump and?
If you replaced the head gaskets, thermostat, and the water pump and it is still overheating then I would ask about the fan. If it is not the fan, then I would say that you have at least one bad head, if not two. But that is just a guess. A mechanic will pressure test the system and will be able to tell you more. Is the radiator restricted?
