Do autistic people look to get revenge on people?

1. Many do, me and many other autistic people I have met are very angry at individual people that have bullied/abused us(including other autistics), I have cursed several people that have been bad to me and my friends but not had physical revenge on anyone. Some autistic people hate typical society in general (and sometimes generally people) because of their experiences with bullying and I have met a few online that seek to enslave, torture or exterminate Neurotypical people from the face of the earth. However, most autistic people don't want this. Many of us would never enslave anybody but would like to live away from typical people, or have revenge individually. In contrast to this a considerable amount of my online autistic friends are easily forgiving and would never want revenge on anybody. 2. Maybe some; but I'm not one of them,. I don't even want to be exclused from typical people, I wanna mix perfectly with normel people. :l

What are tips for parents with autistic children?

Listen to autistic people - even those who are mildly effected know more about what it is to be autistic than a neurotypical parent. Also remember that how someone is affected by autism and the severity in which they are affected varies throughout their lives so it may well be the 'passable' autistic adult was once severely effected when they were children. Your child will also be an adult at some point, adults who have already been through this are your greatest allies. Do not listen to Autism Speaks - this organisation does not speak for autistic people and are known to be openly prejudice against autistic people, they use harmful rhetoric about autistic people to increase their profits which in turn causes a lot more ignorance and prejudice towards autism. Autism Speaks are considered a hate group by most autistic people and autism allies.

Were autistic children mistaken as deaf?

Yes, I believe this happened over the years that most autistic children because of not responding to their names or certain sounds like clapping, conversations, shouts and such that they were mistaken as deaf children. Reason they don't react to certain sounds or people because of the sounds all around them-even though they don't seem too loud and because most autistic people are very uncomfortable with eye contact. Some deaf people can be autistic also.

How did they treat children with austim in the 1930s?

In the 1930's Autism wasn't a diagnosis at all, thus no child would be recognized as being Autistic as they would be today. An Autistic child would likely have been diagnosed with some other condition such as mental retardation and locked in a home of some sort.

What are the Causes of regression in autism?

Regression normally results from stress. For example many parents will push their autistic children to be more like neurotypical children, forcing autistic people to pretend to be neurotypical takes a lot of effort and can result in burn-out followed by regression. Often parents who will not accept their autistic children continue to force them to try to be something other than autistic, long-term this does more harm than good. Autistic people will often regress following stressful situations in their lives, again being forced to act like neurotypical people can result in burnout and regression (for example when in a toxic work environment), or in what would be stressful situations for anyone such as a result of marital problems, homelessness, illness, etc. Aging also seems to result in regression, but little research has been put into adults with autism and even less on older adults with autism.

How can you support your son who has autism?

Learn about autism - not just from doctors or studies but from autistic people themselves, autistic adults have already been through what your son is going to go through so can help. There are many resources by autistic people, for example if you are on Facebook Karla's ASD Page is a great recourse for parents of autistic children, and Karla herself is autistic so can give great insight into autism. Even if your son is severely effected and the adults you talk to are not, remember that many autistic adults were severely effected as children, also that no matter what we all have symptoms in common. Autistic adults have meltdowns like autistic children, where as a severely autistic person may not be able to explain what a meltdown is, how it feels, or what to do to help them...a person not so severely effected can tell you these things, and likely able to explain better thanks to the benefit of a lifetime of experience. Support your son - understand that issues like meltdowns are not behavioural, a meltdown for an autistic person is as unpleasant and uncontrollable as a seizure for an epileptic. Don't scold autistic behaviour or try to train it out of him, accept his autism and work with it to help him live as full a life as possible, trying to force him to be something he is not (neurotypical) doesn't help him and may make his problems worse. Also, don't sell him short - even if severely effected now he may improve in time, the world is full of stories where a child could have been deemed 'severely autistic' only to grow-up to outperform their neurotypical peers and live independently, functioning as well as any neurotypical person. If your child doesn't improve that isn't the end of the world, you will still love them and see how wonderful they are.
