To replace the headlight assembly on a 2006 Jetta, remove the front grill. Then remove the headlight assembly by taking off the screws that secure it in place. Replace with new.Ê

To replace the headlight assembly on on 03 Jetta, the grill and front bumper have to be removed before you can get to the screws below the lamp.

They should be both tied in together
On my 2001 Jetta 1.8T, the outside of the plastic headlight housing gets yellow, probably due to UV light. I use Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish, which removes the very thin layer of plastic (probably less than 0.001") that has yellowed.
If you're facing the car its under the right headlight easily accessable from underneath.
Headlights are normally operated through a relay or circuit breaker.
Check to see if your battery is secure. in my jetta the battery kept sliding forward and smacking my left headlight because it was not tightened down
