If you are a Dhampir then you are still alive and have no need to steal life-force from other living things. You have somehow come across your innate abilities and have become addicted to them. This is understandable. It is intended that the indulgence should be appealing to you. However there is something very socially wrong with you doing this.
If the world was still a wild place then people feasting on other people would be no more wrong then lions eating humans. But the world is now civilized and if you want to live in it with all its benefits then you are going to have to adhere to its standards. Not to mention that, when you are found out, people will hunt you down and kill you.
Now your addiction is no different from an alcoholic or tobacco or gluttony addiction. It can be over-come and suppressed till it becomes a very minor temptation. You will always have the inclination (your fault in experimenting in the first place) but you're going to have to come up with the moral character to contain it and become a decent member of society.
If not then society then has an equal right to deal with you as you deal with it.

They usually don't drink blood at all. In fact, they usually hunt vampires instead because they drink blood - probably because of their vampire fathers for what they did to their human mothers.
