This happens quite a lot for a lot of people, not going to lie. There are those times when this happens and it continues on and on, honestly after this happened to me after for so long, I would stop texting back. You could come of with something VERY random such taking him or her out sometime or something that could get a conversation going, it doesn't exactly matter really.

By having something to talk about. Plus, texting is only for small talk. If you want to have a conversation you should call them or meet them. The bonus of texting is that their isn't an awkward pause when you run out of topics.
