Two main causes for this on a SL's SW's or SC's are
1) a leaking PCV hose from the valve cover to the intake
2) a faulty coolant sensor ( yellow and black wires) by upper coolant hose
Other possible causes are a leaking intake gasket or throttle body gasket.
Hope this helps-
yes. use brake cleaner to find the leak. However replace your ects and clean your throttle body. This is normally the reason for a high idle. ----------------------------------------------------------- THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR ANSWER!
nothing. only if it is a dohc or a sohc.
Two of the most common causes are throttle position sensor and idle control valve problems.
On most models, the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is located on the throttle body.
in order for that question to be answerd i would need a model # and if it is DOHC or SOHC
If 8th VIN digit match, then yes
Yes
how to replace lifter saturn 2002 1.9l sohc
The idle speed is factory pre-set, and no adjustment is available. If the idle is too high, or too low, you will be having other problems that will affect the idle. In cooler temperatures, it will take the engine longer to come out of fast idle, as the engine warms up to operating temp. If the idle is too high/stays at a higher than normal idle, then take the thing to get it repaired. Running a car in gear(automatic transmission) with a higher than normal idle, can damage the transmission.
is it DOHC or SOHC 2 overhead cams or 1 if they are the same DOHC or SOHC then yes most years will fit and 99 and 98 will absolutely fit
You would have to change the computer wiring harness etc
P0301 = miss fire on Cylinder #1 2001 SOHC with a P0301 ---> Bad intake manifold gasket. Spray brake cleaner around the intake manifold gasket during idle. Listen for any changes in the idle. If so, you've found your problem. SOHC in the 3rd gen s-series are notorious for this. rockauto.com has new gaskets for 15 bucks. See saturnspot.com for a how-to
