remove iac and clean it. ( idle air control ). the best way to clean it is to use a old tooth brush or similar. do not emerse in any liquid. and do not push on end of valve, it will mess the idle setting up! you can use carb cleaner or electrcal cleaner for valve. let it dry before replacing it. on the 3.1 engine, it the valve should be--1-1/8 from tip of valve to mounting flange.

This is a critical safety issue due to the possibility of uncontrolled throttle and must be diagnosed and serviced by qualified mechanic.
