How do I get into IT with electrical engineering experience?
Good afternoon. The question is very trepidatious for me, as the future of my profession and my whole life path depends on it. The thing is that I have electrical qualifications, I worked as an electrician's mate for several years. At the moment I am working as a data cable engenier, work is related to the building of racks for data centres, wiring and termination of fibre optic cables on large building sites. I would like to know if I want to jump into the IT industry in the future, what is the most suitable profession in the IT industry related to data centre work? In other words, what kind of jobs in the IT industry would benefit from my experience with fibre optic cables and data centres. Or no experience from my previous jobs would be useful and I have to retrain completely from scratch to get into IT? I thank you in advance.
