Buddhism is in essence used by students of the Buddha in three ways that I am aware of. People can read the teachings of the Buddha as they have been recorded and interpret and follow these directly oneself. One may follow a specific school or tradition of Buddhism and use their understanding and interpretation of teachings for guidance. But a small number of students follow the more esoteric forms of Buddhism and be guided through 'direct experience' of mind, using formal teachings as a platform or framework.
Buddhism is a word used to signify the overall body of thought (and its followers) proposed by the Buddha some 2500 years ago in northern India or Nepal. To the adherents, Buddhism means there is a way out of the ongoing cycle of death and rebirth with its attendant suffering. it is a religion
There is a big fundamental difference: Islam involves a supernatural God, whereas there is no God or God-concept in Buddhism. Although the word "religion" can be used in different ways, it is probably best not even to think of Buddhism as a religion. For example, there is no creed of beliefs in Buddhism. Instead, it is really a set of practices that the Buddha recommended that his followers test for themselves. The Buddha recommended that his followers be skeptical of everything they didn't prove for themselves. Theistic religions like Islam and Christianity never have that kind of attitude. They do not want skeptics and doubters; they want followers. They want people willing to attach to certain beliefs. .

Buddhism was originally transmitted orally by the Buddha and his followers, so it was not written in Sanskrit. The earliest Buddhist texts were written in Pali, which is a Middle-Indo-Aryan language. Sanskrit was later used for the writing of some Buddhist texts in certain regions.

Buddhist temples are places of worship for followers of Buddhism, while Shinto shrines are places of worship for followers of Shintoism. Temples often have images or statues of Buddha and are used for meditation and rituals. Shrines typically have a gate (torii) at the entrance and are dedicated to kami (spirits or gods) found in nature.
It is the other way around. Buddhism was started by a born Hindu prince. Many Gods and Goddesses from Hinduism are used in Buddhism.
