Buddha's Teaching is not an "ism"; it is an education, a way of life. It does not require you to observe any commandments. You live in accordance with Nature and subscribe to the Laws of Nature which include the Law of Impermanance, the Law of Cause and Effect. Irrespective of race, creed , religion or who you are, a pauper or a king, life is impermanant and You Reap What You Sow.
Pretty much do good, get good karma. do bad, get bad karma.
Good karma: helps minus bad karma
Bad karma: increases misery in your life after reincarnation (like born in a poor country, born lame and ect)
also Buddhism has alot of 'way of life' teachings but it comes down to the fact that everyone has to go through suffering because we have emotions and feelings for either ourselves or others and middle path is the best path
Basic Goal: Have a better life in next life
Ultimate Goal: completely eliminate all bad karma in one individual to attain a status to enter a nirvana, a dimension beyond reincarnation where the individual does not need to suffer as a man ever again.
Buddhism is not actually a religion it is considered to more of a science. Buddha is not a god nor did he claim to be. He simply observed the world around him and deduced a path to enlightenment through meditation.
Feasts are not actually part of the traditional practice of Buddhism, though they have been added in the thousands of years since in many parts of the world. The closest thing to a feast in traditional Buddhism is called dana. It is customary to offer a meal to the monks. It is also customary to invite householders to eat after the monks have finished.
Buddhism is structured into several different schools of thought. For instance, there is Mahayana Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism, zen Buddhism, Nichiren Buddhism, and Pure land Buddhism.
