After the death of Elizabeth I, the crown passed to her second cousin, James VI of Scotland, son of Elizabeth's cousin, Mary Stuart. The Stuarts were related to the Tudors thru Henry VIII's oldest sister, Margaret, who had been married to James IV of Scotland, but with the ascension of James to the throne, the direct Tudor line died out and the Stuart line began.
The Tudor monarchy came to an end at the death of Elizabeth I. Elizabeth did not marry and had no children. Therefore the English throne when to her cousin James VII of Scotland. James was crown James I of England and began the Stuart monarchy.
The Tudor Dynasty came to an end simply because there were no heirs to carry on the blood line. The last heir of this period was Elizabeth I who bore no children nor married as she considered herself to be married to England. Following the death of Elizabeth her cousin, James I took over (who was also Mary Queen of Scots son) which began the Stuart Dynasty.
