HD tv doesn't "work". HDTV is currently (2008) a name for a television standard where the picture is built up by 720 or 1080 lines horizontally.
There are many kinds of HDtv sets. The most used now being LCD-TVs and Plasma TVs. You also have other technologies, such as LCD-projectors, DLP-projectors, back-projecting TVs and OLED-displays. All may be HDtv-compliant, as long as they are able to display 720 or 1080 lines horizontally.
To be HD, the signal also has to be as clear as possible. The best way to do this is via a digital cable, such as HDMI or DVI, but you can also use component cables, where each color is transported separated through each own cable, for instance using shielded component, SCART or the standard D-SUB VGA-cable you know from older PCs.
The way the TV itself works varies from set to set, so please ask "How does LCD monitors work" or "How does a Plasma TV work" instead.
It works perfectly. HD quality is same as India.
To get information on led hd tvs, go to a store like best buy, and ask somewhere who works there to explain the difference in these tvs. They can also help you look at pricing.
Go to the place you got it from, get a refund, then get a different one that works.

Some camcorders will also have RCA outputs which will play on a non HD tv. If the camcorder only has HDMI outputs, then it can not be directly connected to you non-HD TV. There are also some camcorders which can record in both HD and Standard Definition.

HD ready tv is High Definition - meaning more clear, concise and crisp picture as well as sound. There is special programming through your cable for this if you have a High Definition television.
