A large amount of people came from Britain to Ireland, displacing some of the local Irish. The settlers maintained an allegiance to Britain, and for some of their descendants that allegiance has remained until the current time. The settlers brought some of their culture with them and that has mixed in with Irish culture. The English language is the first language of most people in Ireland now. The plantation also brought about resentment from Irish people and set in place the source of many rebellions in Irish history since that time. Protestantism became a strong religion in Ireland. In Northern Ireland, Protestantism is dominant, though Catholicism is still the dominant religion in Ireland as a whole. There are many other things that could be said in relation to this question, but broadly it created a British influence in Ireland, some positive and some negative, that has become part of what Ireland is today.
The Plantations.
A plantation was when the native Irish were forced out of an area of land and settlers - known as planters -- from Britain were given the land. It was a way of "planting" a British colony in Ireland so they were called Plantations

Very little. They were generally isolated on the large Plantations for the first few years of their contracts as laborers.
well my Surname is Golden, I'm Irish and my first name's Cliodhna. and my surname originated from England. most surnames that are colours that are now living in Ireland usually arrived when the settlers came from England during the plantations of Ireland years ago.so if you're from Ireland, this should help with your question!!
Because the Unionists that live in Northern Ireland are imports from the various plantations by Britain, and so, have no right to stop the Irish who have been in Ireland all along from being united
Because Northern Ireland had a strong population of British People from the plantations and the people of the Republic Of Ireland now a days were the main people fighting for freedom for 800 years
There were no plantations in Georgia before 1750 because there were no slaves to harvest the crops. The plantations were so big no one could manage them on their own. Soon after 1750 slaves came to America then plantations started to grow. That is why there were no plantations in Georgia before 1750.

The pale was the part of Ireland that was directly under the control of the English government. It covered most of the county of Dublin and also parts of Kildare, Meath and Louth.
It started because the English wanted to take over Ireland so they 'planted' the English there and carried on the english methods.
