George Washington and his continental army surrounded Boston with unloaded cannons. The British were unaware that they were empty, and they evacuated the city.then Washington took all of their cell phones
George Washington put cannons at Dorchester Heights and this forced the British to leave Boston. 11,000 British troops and some 1,000 Loyalists departed Boston for Nova Scotia, Canada.
During the Revolutionary War the British were sent to Boston to ensure that the colonists obeyed the ruling against them for the Boston Tea Party. When they were headed back to Boston they were met by General George Washington that ordered his troops to point their cannons at the British and demanded that they leave.
Washington had his army occupy the heights over Boston. His army could attack the British army from two different directions, so the British had to divide their forces to defend their position. He could see any impending British attack so he did not need to divide his forces. His cannon were placed where they could fire on the British positions. The British cannon would need to shoot uphill and could not shoot that far. General Gage, the British commander, saw the hopelessness of his situation and abandoned Boston.
The cannons from Fort Ticonderoga in upstate New York, captured in May 1775, were carried overland to Dorchester Heights overlooking Boston, from which they could have shelled the city. A storm caused a British counterattack to be canceled, and the British forces in Boston (who had earlier planned to leave anyway) evacuated by ship on March 17, 1776.

During the Revolutionary war, there was an 11 month siege of Boston by American troops who were under the command of George Washington. British General William Howe decided to avoid a repeat of the Battle of Bunker Hill and retreated, with the drawing the remaining British troops from Boston.
The British retreated from Boston because the patriots (American colonists) wanted the british out of Boston. so George Washington formed a plan and told Henry knox to go to fort ticonderoga with his men and steall the needed artillery and bring it back to Boston. when they came back they got their canons and they lined them up facing the british. the next morning when the british woke up they got scared so they retreated fropm Boston. this was good for the patriots because it was all a fraud and there was no ammunition in any of the canons...... hoped i answered ur question =).......
