Cell phone GPS locators are fairly accurate. If you are looking for pinpoint accuracy, I would recommend a GPS console unit like a Garmin or a Magellan rather than a cell phone.

Other phones that do not have GPS capability can still be tracked using cell phone tower triangulation, but this is not as accurate as GPS. phones do not have to be a smart phone to have gps. just ask the salesperson for phones that have gps and see which one you like. there are lots of gps mobile phones that aren't smart phones.
