After/during the great depression a lot of families went bankrupt or went into debt . Since the army offered over $1.00 a day a lot of people joined up. Nazi-Germany and the USSR signed a peace treaty while they both invaded Poland. Britan and France both declared war but did'nt do anything to help Poland. A few days later Canada joined. But on Sept. 28th 1939 Germany had captured Poland. Hitler wanted to get back the land that Germany had lost in WW1 back and it looked like he'd get more land back until...

2. Hitler broke the peace treaty with the USSR and invaded Russia (although until Stalingrad he was plowing through Russia).
