If an animal's colors look similar to its surrounding environment then its colors are used to blend in with the background. If its colors are bright, bold and easily noticable, then the colors are used to communicate the statement "Hey, im poisonous if you eat me. Stay away."
Shapes and colors help the animal camouflage into it's surroundings and if it is brightly colored it helps us know they may be poisonous
The two main uses for camouflage is either to (hopefully) escape being eaten OR to blend in so a predator has a better chance of catching its food.
