Economics is the strongest way in which Suriname and the United States of America are related.

Specifically, since independence on November 25, 1975, Suriname tends to maintain the largest volume of trade with its former mother country, the Netherlands. But nowadays the United States is considered Suriname's most important trading partner. A quite a bit weaker connection is the historical experience as English colonies, but at separate times and for differing lengths of time.
