The animals that live in a rainforest each have a "niche" which they are adapted too. Some eat fruit located high in the tree canopy, while others might eat from lower down, or even scavenging off the ground. Certain snakes eat smaller birds in the trees, while bigger snakes hunt larger animals on the ground. There is a little overlap within these "niches" but for the most part the competition is only within their own species. And in nature the smartest, fittest, and most adaptive are the ones to florish, ensuring the strongest survive.
