their are a lot of high school "cliques" Not so much gangs.
Gangs can be considered a type of clique because they are tight-knit, exclusive groups that share common interests, activities, and goals. Just like cliques, gangs often require loyalty, secrecy, and adherence to group norms or codes of behavior. Membership in both gangs and cliques can provide individuals with a sense of belonging, identity, and protection.
D C. Dunphy has written: 'Cliques, crowds and gangs'
They are alike by many ways. One way is that they both are gangs. But that one i know.
Gang - These days (after the late 80's), Gangs are considered a group of people with the same interests, and values. Most of them have criminal records, have been shot, and are constantly getting arrested or into fights, almost daily. Also, the gangs have colors and hand-sighs that they associate with thier particular group. Gangs are mainly considered VIOLENT. CLIQUE - A group of people with the similar interests and morals. usually cliques are formed in school, starting as early as middle school. However, unlike gangs, you can "transfer" cliques without fear of being physically harmed or losing your "status" in the neighborhood. Clique activities dont usually extend beyond the origin, but if so, its is a gathering formed around having fun and hanging out. Cliques are considered harmless if there is no immeadiate tension with others.
Gangs in Pensacola began with localized neighborhood and "cliques" from the various projects, yet from around 1992-1999 there was a surge of nationalized semi organized sets ranging from Gangster Disciples (folk nation), piru bloods, many Crip sets like...Rollin 30's tre-tre gangstaz to 3rd squad. After the crime rise associated with the Rollin 30's and 69 st. Folks there was a gang task force assembled led by Jay Camac. Recently the gangs have de-evolved to the local drug cliques and neighborhood hoodlums.
i guess it depends on the people
In many cases the Police will search for vandals responsible for damage or destruction to private & public property. Spray paint cans are a source of finger prints, tags are unique to certain cliques, gangs, and individuals.
There are some cliques out there that are just for popularity, but many people join cliques because they need a group of people to be around to feel accepted even if that group of people is not so nice.
The main idea of ''Coping with Cliques'' is to provide strategies and tips for individuals to navigate and cope with the challenges posed by cliques, such as loneliness, exclusion, and peer pressure. It emphasizes the importance of self-confidence, assertiveness, and seeking supportive relationships outside of cliques.
