These diamonds are created in the Laboratory using a "natural tiny tiny seed diamond". These are then grown (using the same mother nature process, high heat, high pressure with vaporized pure carbon) at the molecular level to create a "PERFECT" diamond (i.e. hardness, color, clarity etc) which even mother nature can't create over millions of years.

So these are "real" diamonds (i.e. same atomic structure) but they are grown in a lab vs being extracted from the earth.

Have you ever heard of DiamonArt from JCPenney?? They are lab created diamonds, simulated diamonds from the JCPenney jewelry collection. It has fewer inclusions than you would find in real diamonds so it is clearer than real diamond but looks just as nice if not better. According to JCPenney.com "Diamonart® jewelry is created with the highest grade of simulated diamonds and perfectly cut to reflect the maximum amount of light" and that"DiamonArt® jewelry is of the finest quality thanks to the patented polishing system of applying diamond dust to add more luster and shine"

Diamonds -- rough rocks -- are cut and polished using tools, edged with diamond (diamond is the only thing that easily cuts diamond). After the diamond is cut to shape, the gem is set into the jewelry using a tiny clamp. Small feet -- prongs -- bend down over the gem to secure it in place.

Metal is formed into rings by casting, or by hand-forming. Gems are set in prongs in the rings. Generally, diamond rings are fabricated by hand, and not by any kind of assembly line.
