Divergent boundaries are when two plates move apart. Divergent Boundaries in the ocean is when the sea floor spreads as the oceanic plates move apart. This causes places like the oceanic ridge. Divergent boundaries on crust are when two pieces of crust move apart. This makes mountains and valleys. Transform Boundaries are formed when two plates shear against each other, like the San Andreas Fault in California. The only way they are alike is because both of them cause earthquakes.

Tectonic plates slide past each other horizontally?

Transform boundary

What are the technical names for each of the tectonic plates movements?

Divergent Boundaries, Convergent Boundaries and Transform Fault Boundaries. Divergent Boundaries move away from each other, Convergent Boundaries collide with each other and Transform Fault Boundaries grind past each other.

How are divergent and tranform fault boundaries different?

At a divergent plat boundary the plates are moving APART in opposite directions and this is a constructive plate boundary.A transform boundary is one where the plates are SLIDING past each other in opposite directions.

What is a transforming boundaries?

Transform boundaries occur when two plates are sliding along each other in opposing directions. Due to friction when the plates buckle and shift, they often cause earthquakes. A famous transform fault is the San Andreas fault in California.a transform boundary is when two plates past one another

What fault occurs at a divergent boundary?

The type of fault that generally occurs at a divergent boundary is a strike-slip fault. It is also referred to as a transform fault.

Name the 3 ways that plates move along a fault in earth and explain the difference between them?

Plates move along a fault through transform boundaries, where they slide past each other horizontally. Plates can also move through divergent boundaries, where they move away from each other. Lastly, plates can move along convergent boundaries, where they collide and push against each other, leading to subduction or mountain formation.

What is an example of a divergent plate boundary and a transform plate boundary?

Divergent plate boundary: Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Transform plate boundary: San Andreas Fault.

Why don't volcano's form along San Andres fault?

When volcanoes form, they are typically caused by a convergent or divergent motion. The San Andreas Fault was formed from a transform motion, or when the plates slide past each other.

How is transform boundary different from a convergent boundary?

Transform fault where plates slide horizontally past one another without the production or destruction of litosphere, the Divergent produces new sea floor and Convergent two plates collide underneath in creating underground mountains.

A place where plates slide past one another is what?

transform boundry.

What fault is most common in the San Andreas fault system?

It's a transform boundary between two plates. The resultant fault of a transform boundary.
