All fossil fuels have to be removed from underground:

  1. coal - dug out
  2. oil - drilled down to then pumped up from underground
  3. natural gas - collected into wells that are capped
  4. fracked gas - fracked from within rocks underground and extracted to the surface

All fossil fuels must be heated and burned to release usable energy.

Fossil fuels are burned to release their chemical energy (hydrocarbon bonds). Ideally they form carbon dioxide and water, but various contaminants and pollutants are also created, especially when using internal combustion engines. The cleanest fuel is natural gas, while coal is on the whole the most polluting, as it creates soot when incompletely burned and may also contain excessive sulfur.

How does fossil fuels get converted into electricity?

Actually the energy of fossil fuels is converted into electricity. In thermal power plants fossil fuels are used to heat the water and steam is formed. Then that pressurized steam helps in rotating turbines and energy is formed.

When a fossil fuels is burn energy is converted to kinetic energy?

Fossil fuels represent chemical energy, a form of potential energy. This energy was stored in the hydrocarbon molecules and can be released by oxidation (burning).
