The egg is huge, the largest cell of the human body, it can even be seen with the naked eye. It contains all the ingredients of a regular cell, and tons of nutrients to feed the embryo before it anchors to the wall of the womb.

The sperm cell is the smallest of the human body, and contains only a nucleus with DNA to contribute to the future embryo, and structures providing energy to the tail to swim as fast as it can. The sperm is built for speed.

How many sperm cell and egg cell unite during fertilization?

Generally, one sperm cell and one egg cell unite for each offpring that is created (some cases, such as monozygotic/idential twins, are different). This means that if a human has one baby, it was one sperm and one egg. Or if a dog has 5 puppies, it was 5 egg cells and 5 sperm cells that united.

What is the function of a human sperm cell?

What are the different types of sex cells?

The human gametes are the sperm cell (male) and the egg cell (female). The chromosomes carried by the sperm cell can have two forms, the X cell (female offspring) or the Y cell (male offspring). These combine with the egg cell, which virtually always carries only an X chromosome. So an XX cell would develop as a female, and an XY cell would result in a male offspring.

What is the function of the human egg cell?

to get fertilized by sperm and turn into a baby

The total set of chromosomes found in either egg or sperm?

The number of chromosomes found in either and egg of sperm is half the number of chromosomes found in a normal cell of the organism. For example, if you are thinking of a human sperm or egg cell is would be 23 chromosomes, since the normal human cell has 46.
