There weren't. There were empires and kingdoms, not countries. The world didn't work that way.

Nobody established Delhi as a country. It has been a capital city of many different kingdoms and empires, but never a country in it's own right.

There were also the Sumerian, Chaldean, and Assyrian Empires , as well as the kingdom of Egypt. But these weren't the major Empires.
