Osmosis is where the water or other particles go from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. This is often against a pressure gradient. This type of reaction involves a process known as ACTIVE TRANSPORT where ATP (adenotriphosphate) is required (energy required).
Diffusion is where the products even themselves out through a given solution. This process is done by passive transport, where NO energy or ATP are required.
Osmosis is diffusion through a semi-permeable membrane.
neither require energy
diffusion is to make materials collide and osmosis is when water goes into a material:)for osmosis try the egg expierment!
minority molecules spread out. diffusion happens with gas and osmosis happen with liquid.
They are similar. Diffusion refers to a movement from high concentration to low concentration. Osmosis is basically the diffusion of water.
Diffusion is the net movement of a substance through a membrane from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. Osmosis is the diffusion of water.
Both affected by Concentrations?
Osmosis is very similar to normal diffusion, but osmosis is only the movement of water through a "partially permeable membrane" where as simple diffusion is the movement of anything from an area of high concetrations to low, such as gas in a room.

Diffusion, osmosis, Facilitated Diffusion
Osmosis is the same thing as diffusion, but occuring only with liquids in a selectively permeable membrane. An example of this is that water entering your cells is osmosis, but oxygen entering is diffusion.
tecnicly, they arn't osmosis (in terms of life) is the diffusion of water across the cell membrane diffusion is the natral movement of particls from a higher consintration to a lower consintration.
Osmosis is the diffusion of water.
osmosis is diffusion through a membrane
Osmosis and diffusion are similar in that there is a net movement of molecules from a high concentration of those molecules to a lower concentration. Osmosis is a special type of diffusion that deals with the movement of water only. Osmosis also deals with a semipermeable membrane (like our cell membranes). Diffusion can occur anywhere such in a glass of water when you add sugar but it can occur around cells.
