the burning of gas......the spark pulgs ignite the gasoline...the ignited gas is sent out of the car out the exhast...there is many different ways the car companies has helped to less pollute the air by using EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). and the use of catalatic converter and many other things

Why is nitrogen dioxide not formed in a car engine?

because of combustion

What products are produced when petrol reacts with oxygen?

carbon dioxidecarbon monoxidewatersulphur dioxide may be formed depending on sulphur contentvarious unburned hydrocarbons if not enough oxygen is availablenitrogen oxides will be formed if reaction happens in closed chamber with ordinary air (e.g. internal combustion engine)

What gases are formed in internal combustion?

An internal combustion engine uses either petroleum or diesel. In both cases, the main gases produced are the result of burning the hydro-carbons contained in the fuel. The hydrogen burns with oxygen to produce water vapor (H20) The carbon burn with oxygen to produce carbon dixode (CO2) Other elements are burned and produce very small amounts of other gases.

How combustion formed?

Combustion is a an oxydation reaction, a reaction with oxygen.

How do primary pollutants form?

There are two main types of primary pollutants: man-made pollutants and natural pollutants. Man-made primary pollutants are formed largely from combustion reactions used to create electricity and run the over one billion cars that are in the world today. These pollutants include Sulfur oxides (Sulfur dioxide, Sulfur trioxide), Carbon oxides (Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide), and Nitrogen oxides (Nitrogen dioxide, Nitrogen monoxide). Another type of man-made primary pollutant includes VoCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), which are largely responsible for destroying the ozone layer. Natural primary pollutants are formed by natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, and volcano eruptions, and include dust, ash, and salt particles.

Is secondary pollutants more harmful than primary pollutants?

Primary air pollutants are emitted directly into atmosphere from a process such as exhaust from a engine, industries, volcanic eruption Secondary air pollution are formed in the air when primary pollutants interact.

Why are nitrogen dioxide and acid rain called secondary pollutants?

Because they are only caused or formed by pollutants that existed before.

Photochemical smog is formed when primary pollutants interact with?

Sunlight

What products are formed after a combustion?

Oxides.

What 2 substances are formed when gasoline burns with oxygen during combustion?

During complete combustion, carbon dioxide and water are formed. If incomplete combustion occurs, carbon monoxide and water are produced.

What are two pollutants formed by the combustion of petroleum?

Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damages the natural environment, into the atmosphere. Petroleum is a mixture of hydrocarbons. On combustion, it produces mainly carbon dioxide and water vapour. However, on incomplete combustion, they produce carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons etc. They also produce oxides of nitrogen.

How is cement formed from limestone?

cement is formed from limestone by combustion of limestone ( heating of the limestone)!
