Seasons are not dramatically different, except that the amount of sunlight differs dramatically from summer to winter. Temperatures on the continent are consistently too cold to support life or any kind of food chain. Since no substantive vegetation grows there, there is no visible difference in the seasons.

The seasons in Antarctica start and end on the same days as do the seasons all over the earth.

However, because Antarctica is in the Southern Hemisphere, winter in Antarctica occurs at the same time that summer occurs in the northern hemisphere. Spring and fall are also opposing in the different hemispheres.

What else is different in Antarctica -- and the Arctic -- is that during winter there can be many months without a sunrise. In summer, many months go by without a sunset. Again, this phenomenon is exactly opposite in the Arctic, because the seasons are in opposition on opposite ends of the earth.

'Weather' in Antarctica has to do with wind, ice particles and light.

Katabatic winds blow constantly, often at blizzard rates. This is true all year.

With so little humidity -- average about five percent across the continent, winds pick up ice crystals and they swirl about, especially when there is no sunlight. This is also true all year.

Because Antarctica is polar, the geography south of 66 degrees S experiences at least one 24-hour period of no sunrise/ sunset. At the South Pole, this period is six months. Generally, during summer, the sun doesn't set and during winter, the sun does not rise.

What is constant is the cold. Antarctica is the highest, driest, coldest, windiest, darkest and iciest continent on earth. It's weather is considered extreme on all levels all year.

Why are Antarctica's seasons different?

Seasons in Antarctica are the same as they are everywhere in the southern hemisphere. In the sense that not much changes between the seasons, except access to sun, Antarctica's seasons are not too different from each other.

How many seasons does Antarctic have?

Antarctica enjoys four seasons, as do all locations on earth. In the southern hemisphere, summer begins on December 21 and the other seasons follow in order.

Does Antarctica have seasons?

Antarctica has four seasons, as does every spot on earth.Seasonal changes occur on December 21, March 21, June 21 and September 21.Because Antarctica is in the southern hemisphere, its seasons are reversed from the seasons named in the northern hemisphere. For example, June 21 is called Mid-Winter's Day in Antarctica, and technically December 21 is the longest day of the year.yes but they are much more extreme than most of the rest of the planet.Summers are bright all day and night and winters are dark all day and all night.

Why is Antarctica different from other contients?

What two planets have seasons?

What causes the different seasons in earth?

Seasons are caused by the tilt of the earth on its axis. When the Southern Hemisphere is facing the sun more directly, it is summer there and winter in the Northern Hemisphere. When the earth is not tilted, it is spring in one place and fall in the other. That was a question on my science test. Weird.
