senators serve longer terms because there are 435 Representatives and there are only 100 senators 2 to each state so senators have alot more work to do which means if they had a short amount of time they won't get anything done

Senate terms are not only longer but they overlap, since one-third of the Senate is elected every two years. This provides more stability, the modern development of House members remaining in office for decades being a development more recent than the original practice. The Senate has some duties that are different than the House, such as ratifying treaties and consenting to presidential appointments. The Senate is considered as representing the states, while the House represents the people (even though since 1913 members of both houses are directly elected by the people).

The Senate serves six-year terms while Representatives serve two years. The Founding Fathers wanted one group to be responsive to the immediate needs of their district while the other group would be able to look at the long-term concerns of their state.

Senators serve six year terms while Representatives are only elected to two year terms. Representatives serve significantly shorter terms because the number for each state is not fixed because it is based on population. The number of Senators from each state, however, is fixed at two.

Senators are elected for a longer term than Representatives.

They are elected for longer terms because they were considered to be senior, perhaps smarter than Representatives.

They are also elected in an alternating pattern of years that [in my view] was and is one of the most brilliant elements of stability in constitutional government ever concieved.

To determine the exact numerical differences among the various gubernatorial, Congressional, Senatorial and presidential elections I suggest you download and read the CONSTITUTION! ~(and the amendments).

Senators terms are longer so they can be staggered; this way, two thirds of senators will have some government experience.
