What is the meaning of software project?

What is an explanation of the SQA activities?

Software quality assurance is composed of a variety of tasks associated with two different constituencies-the software engineers who do technical work and an SQA group that has responsibility for quality assurance planning, oversight, record keeping, analysis, and reporting. Software engineers address quality (and perform quality assurance and quality control activities) by applying solid technical methods and measures, conducting formal technical reviews, and performing well-planned software testing. Only reviews are discussed in this chapter. Technology topics are discussed in Parts Three through Five of this book. The charter of the SQA group is to assist the software team in achieving a highquality end product. The Software Engineering Institute [PAU93] recommends a set of SQA activities that address quality assurance planning, oversight, record keeping, analysis, and reporting. These activities are performed (or facilitated) by an independent SQA group that: Prepares an SQA plan for a project. The plan is developed during project planning and is reviewed by all interested parties. Quality assurance activities performed by the software engineering team and the SQA group are governed by the plan. The plan identifies • evaluations to be performed • audits and reviews to be performed • standards that are applicable to the project • procedures for error reporting and tracking • documents to be produced by the SQA group • amount of feedback provided to the software project team Participates in the development of the project's software process description. The software team selects a process for the work to be performed. The SQA group reviews the process description for compliance with organizational policy, internal software standards, externally imposed standards (e.g., ISO-9001), and other parts of the software project plan. Reviews software engineering activities to verify compliance with the defined software process. The SQA group identifies, documents, and tracks deviations from the process and verifies that corrections have been made.Audits designated software work products to verify compliance with those defined as part of the software process. The SQA group reviews selected work products; identifies, documents, and tracks deviations; verifies that corrections have been made; and periodically reports the results of its work to the project manager. Ensures that deviations in software work and work products are documented and handled according to a documented procedure. Deviations may be encountered in the project plan, process description, applicable standards, or technical work products. Records any noncompliance and reports to senior management. Noncompliance items are tracked until they are resolved.

How can you differenciate between QA QC and amp Testing?

These all are related and to some point, can be considered as same activities too, but there are distinct points that spaced out QA, QC and testing.QA stands for Quality Assurance. Its a software testing life cycle comprises of various activities related to QA to make sure the process implementation, various procedures and standards in perspective to verification of developed software and planned requirements. In software qa services, the main focus is on processes and procedures followed during the testing.QC stands for Quality Control. It includes activities that ensure the endorsement of a developed software as per requirements those were acknowledged. QC is focused on actual testing by executing the software with the intention to identify defect through implementation of procedures and process. QC is a Product-oriented activities and also a corrective process. QC can be considered as the subset of Quality Assurance.Testing is part of Quality Control and is achieved in the software testing phase. Testing comprises of activities that confirm the identification of bugs or defects in software applications without correcting it. Testing is also product-oriented and main focus is on actual software testing to prevent bugs.

Difference between quality management and project management?

Quality Management is a subset of Project Management. Quality Management consists of quality planning, assurance, and control. Managing projects requires applying knowledge, skills, and tools and techniques to project activities in order to meet the project objectives. You do this by performing some processes at various stages of the project, as discussed in the previous chapter. That means processes are part of the knowledge required to manage projects. Each aspect of a project is managed by using the corresponding knowledge area. For example, each project has a scope that needs to be managed, and the knowledge required to manage scope is in the knowledge area called project scope management. To perform the project work within the project scope, you need human resources, which need to be managed; the knowledge used to manage human resources is called human resource management. Each process belongs to one of the nine knowledge areas: 1. Scope Management 2. Time Management 3. Cost Management 4. Human Resource Management 5. Procurement Management 6. Risk Management 7. Quality Management 8. Integration Management & 9. Communication Management Project quality is defined as the degree to which a project satisfies its objectives and requirements. For example, a high-quality project is a project that is completed on time and with all the work in the project scope completed within the planned budget. Project quality management includes the following: 1. Plan quality - Determine the quality requirements and standards that are relevant to the project at hand and how to apply them. 2. Perform quality assurance - Ensure the planned quality requirements and standards are applied. 3. Perform quality control - Monitor the quality activities and record the results of these activities in order to assess performance and make necessary recommendations for corrective actions and changes.

I am looking for test management tool with collaboration capabilities but at an affordable rate. Please suggest?

Test management is the process of organizing and managing testing activities in order to ensure that the software application is tested thoroughly. To create a high-quality software application, the method entails planning, controlling, ensuring traceability, and visibility of the testing process. It makes sure that the software testing process goes smoothly. Teams can ensure that they are generating the best products possible while making the most of their limited resources by using well-planned and well-managed testing methods. The need for highly developed test management systems is growing as software vendors compete to deliver the functional solutions in the shortest amount of time. The test management process has become the focus of attention as testing teams work with development teams to release finished products within tighter deadlines.
