The 10 commandments teach you to have the single Faith in ONE God, not to indulge in blasphemy, never to forget the lord's day, to honor the parents, not to commit sins like killing, adultery, stealing, false witness, not to be envious and wanting for others women an property.

The 8 beatitudes preach you about the importance and blessed gift of having compassion, love, apathy, righteousness, mercy, purity of heart, harmony and peace, sacrificing the life for the sake of righteousness.

They are essentially the same in concept. However, there are EIGHT beatitudes and Ten commandments.

The Ten Commandments define what sin is: [I John 3:4].

The Beatitudes define the "attitude" or "character" of God's Children.

The ten commandments are actual laws.

The beatitudes were how you should act , like don't be jealous, be nice to people, that sort of stuff.

HOW?

The ten commandments were given to Moises so that he could guide his people to come closer to God. These ten commandments laid the foundation for the Jewish religion.

The beatitudes speech was given by Jesus and gave examples of characteristics that everyone should strive to obtain and the blessings that come with them.

Are there 8 or 9 beatitudes?

A:There are eight beatitudes. Four of them are common to Matthew and Luke, and have been traced back to the hypothetical 'Q' document. Four of them are found in Matthewonly, with one of them originating from the Book of Psalms and the others traced back to other sources. At least two of the beatitudes common to Matthew and Luke are so different that they say entirely different things but use almost the same words and come from the same original source.
