Good God man, your asking the question of the entire book! To put it in short terms there are two things that separate a soc from a greaser, money and emotion. In the book Socs are a little like rag dolls, they go with the flow and do what everyone else is doing but they put no emotion in it. Greasers on the other hand are rebellious and aren't afraid to go against the curve. Everything they do they do with emotion because that's all they have. That and there hair.

Cherry was a soc and had connections with Bob's friends. She was also Bob's "girlfriend" . when she found out Bob was dead she knew there was going to be a war between the greasers and the soc. The greasers asked her to spy on the soc for them. Besides Cherry Valance never liked fights.
The war between the two classes because the soc's think because they are so rich and smart that they are better than the greasers.

Because the greasers are lower class and live in the poor side but the Soc are rich and they pick on the Greasers because they are lower class and hoods.
Soc girls typically come from wealthier families, adhere to social norms, and prioritize a polished appearance. In contrast, the girls the greasers date are often more rebellious, act independently of social expectations, and may have a more laid-back or tougher demeanor.
well they are different gangs separated by their social status. they pretty much hated each other. they wanted to show each other who was stronger to they set up a fight and whoever won would be the winner
they only two gangs i can recall are the " Soc's" pronounced "so-sh-es" and the " Greasers" ~ unless you count Tim Shepherd's gang but they were part of the greasers.
