The term "Blitzkrieg" was used to mean an mobile, armored unit that attacked through the center of the enemy line, which was followed up with the standard infantry attack. It was also a term that symbolized the drastic change from a war of words (Sitzkrieg ?) to a war of bullets and action.

The Blitz was first used in the attack on Poland on 1 Sept 1939 and then the attack through Belguim and thus bypassing the Maginot Line to enter France.

So after the fall of these countries, Germany began its air campaign against England in summer of 1940, known as the Battle of Britian.

The Germans continued to employ the Blitz tactic in other campaigns.

Answer:

This is incorrect. The Blitz was not (and had nothing to do with) "blitzkrieg". The Blitz was the name given to the German campaign of bombing British cities. It came AFTER the Battle of Britain.

The evacuation from Dunkirk was in June 1940. Nazi Germany is faced with two problems if it is to cross the English Channel to invade England. 1: Sea power. There is nothing the Germans can do about the preponderance of strength the British have with the Royal Navy. Put simply the British have far too many ships. 2: Air power. It is obvious the Luftwaffe is a powerful strike force in support of ground forces. Therefore they began to attack the RAF airfields in southern England, as well as bombing other strategic targets. Manston in Kent, for example was soon discarded by the RAF as a fighter base. The Luftwaffe had some success, but was losing pilots & machines at an alarming rate. RAF pilots were of course shot down over friendly territory & most were able to rejoin their squadrons. Most of this activity in the summer & autumn of 1940 was in daylight. This was the Battle of Britain. The Germans decide to change tactics & bomb civillian targets, principally London, by night. This then is the Blitz. It lasts well into 1941 & only ends when the Luftwaffe is needed to support Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia.
