Do all the cells look the same in a spirogyra?

no no

How are bacteria different from animal and plant cells?

Bacteria usually don't have all the organelles that plant and animal cells do, such as mitochondria, chloroplasts (plants), golgi apparatus, smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulums, etc. Bacteria cells are simple as compared to the plant and animal cells.

How does spirogyra obtain food?

I think bacteria eats it.

What is Thomas engelmann's experiment?

Engelmann shone light of different colores (wavelengths) onto filaments of Spirogyra. Spirogyra is an alga made up of filaments (chains) of cells. He added motile bacteria (which could swim) and which needed oxygen and observed where they went. He found that the bacteria clustered around the blue and red colours of the spectrum, where the Spirogyra were producing the most oxygen. So he concluded that these two colours were the most important for photosynthesis. For an animation of his experiment see: http://www.phschool.com/science/biology_place/biocoach/photosynth/action.html See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodor_Wilhelm_Engelmann

Is Spirogyra a unicellular organism or multicellular?

Spirogyra is a colonial plant. It consists of many identical cells, reapeated one after the other in a strand, and it is classified as a green algae. It is autotrophic, meaning it gets energy from the sun and not from other creatures. Its name, spirogyra, comes from his genus's trademark spiral shaped chloroplasts. What are some Organisms that use fragmentation?

bacteria

Characteristics that make spirogyra cells a plant cells?

These cells need sunlight and water to live. Without these they will not be able to survive.

How is bacteria cells different from animal and plant cells?

The cells of bacteria are different from those of plants and animals in many ways, the most obvious of which is that bacteria lack a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles (except ribosomes). Unlike animals and plants, bacteria have pili, flagella, and most have a cell capsule.
