Both countries are very similar. They both use English as their main language. They both have a free market economy. They are both democracies. They are both members of the European Union. Their legal systems are similar.
However, Ireland is a Republic and the UK is a monarchy. Ireland uses the Euro as its currency but the UK has retained its Pound.
