How are the two major political parties similar and how do they differ?

In many political systems and theories of thoughts there are theories of rightist and leftist thought. These two schools represent a wide spectrum and further depend on individual national contexts. A European center left could be akin to a near right United States conservative for example. Modern conservative parties thought regards limited governance, taxation, supporting free markets, and advocating strong defense expenditures. Liberal party thought regards the state as the central actor to resolving socioeconomic inequity and regulating business to prevent market and worker abuses. Inequity and environmental costs by liberal methodologies can be counteracted by regulatory regimes, taxation, and other state instruments.

The two main parties in the US are The Democratic and Republican parties. Democrats generally believe in a larger government, one where the federal government has more control economically. On the other side, Republicans want a smaller Federal government and a very open market with few economic restrictions. The Republican Party is usually more conservative, they're usually pro-choice, traditional marriage, religious-radicals, pro-gun rights, anti-ally, anti-government transparency, and focus very much on more politically based issues.

The Democratic Party is more focused on being socially-just with gun-control, pro-choice, pro-government transparency, spreading money in a fair way, and making sure everyone has the rights that more socially-acceptable people do.

So the republicans focus more on government, money, etc. Democrats focus more on the happiness of the people and fairness.
