Electric charge is the fundamental property of particles which gives rise to electric force between them. It is found that when woollen cloth is rubbed against rubber shoes, both woollen and rubber shoes acquire charge and both objects attract each other.

Same thing happens when fur is rubbed against ebonite rod. But when charged woollen cloth is brought near the charged fur they repel each other.

This repulsion and attraction between the charged objects made Benjamin Franklin to think that there are two types of charges. He arbitrarily called them 'Positive' and 'Negative'.

What is the law of the electric charges state?

Opposite charges attract, and like charges repel each other. Coulomb's law of electric charges says that there are two kinds of charges, positive and negative, and that like charges repel each other while unlike charges attract.

What are the two kinds of electric charge?

The two kinds of electric charge are positive and negative. Positive charge is carried by protons, while negative charge is carried by electrons. Opposite charges attract each other, while like charges repel.

What is State of law of electric charges?

Opposite charges attract, and like charges repel each other. Coulomb's law of electric charges says that there are two kinds of charges, positive and negative, and that like charges repel each other while unlike charges attract.

What is two opposite electric charges separated by a short distance called?

Two opposite electric charges separated by a short distance are called an electric dipole.

What are the two causes of electric and magnetic forces?

Electric forces are caused by the attraction or repulsion of electric charges, while magnetic forces are caused by the motion of electric charges.

What condition must be met for the electric field between two charges to be zero?

The condition for the electric field between two charges to be zero is when the charges are equal in magnitude and opposite in sign.

What is the condition for the electric potential to be zero between two opposite charges?

The condition for the electric potential to be zero between two opposite charges is when the charges are equal in magnitude and opposite in sign.

What kinds of charges do particles have?

Positive +, neutral 0, negative -.

What are two types of electric charge?

The two types of electric charge are positive and negative. Positive charges repel each other, as do negative charges, while opposite charges attract each other.

What are two things that decide on how powerful an electric force is?

The two main factors that determine the strength of an electric force between two charged objects are the magnitude of the charges involved and the distance between the charges. The greater the charges and the closer the objects are, the stronger the electric force will be.

What is the effect of placing two negative charges in an electric field?

When two negative charges are placed in an electric field, they will repel each other due to their like charges. This repulsion will cause the charges to move away from each other, following the direction of the electric field lines.

What is the magnitude of the electric field between two positive charges?

The magnitude of the electric field between two positive charges is directly proportional to the strength of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
