Fruits contain the seed of the fruit within the skin, withing the flesh of the fruit. As in apples, Oranges, Pears and peaches. There are some fruits classified as fruits but for culinary uses are treated as vegetables, such as the tomato. In general terms consider fruits with internal seeds, vegetables external seeds

A fruit has seeds and a vegetable doesn't, for example: a tomato is a fruit, a carrot is a vegetable, a banana is a fruit. Anything with seeds is definitely a fruit and anything else is a vegetable.
Personally, I would divide vegetables into the following groupings:
leafy (lettuce, cabbage, spinach)
cruciferous (broccoli, cauliflower)
root/tuberous (radishes, carrots, potatoes)
stalk (celery, asparagus, fennel)
fruit vegetables (avocado, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers)
Fruit contains seeds. This is why a tomato is actually a fruit. Aside from that, I don't know.
•if it has a seed it is a fruit if it has no seeds that mean it is a vegetable.
By groups, such as drupes, pomes, citrus fruit, berries, melons, tropical fruits, ect.
the way to always remember it is if it has seeds it a fruit
1) by starch content
2) by color
3) family (i.e. nightshades: potato, tomato, peppers and belladonna)
