normally whoever fitted the new 1 would have written it in the service book or put a sticker on top of the cam housing stating the mileage it was changed but if in doubt take the casing off and check to see the condition of the belt and if it got airline cracks or looks old have it changed asap.
i just had mine done at nearly 50,000 miles. hope this helps
hi mate just bought same car myself, its 60'000 miles. chris

Yes, the 1.2 VW Polo is equipped with a cambelt (timing belt). It's essential to follow the manufacturer's recommended service intervals for cambelt replacement to prevent engine damage. Regular maintenance checks will help ensure the cambelt remains in good condition. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific details regarding your vehicle's maintenance schedule.
The 57 plate VW Polo 1.2 typically has a timing chain rather than a cambelt. However, it's important to verify the specific engine variant, as some older models might have a cambelt. Consulting the owner's manual or a mechanic can provide accurate information for your specific vehicle.
The VW Polo typically has a timing belt, although this can vary depending on the engine model and year. Most newer models generally use a timing chain, which is designed to last longer and require less maintenance than a belt. It's important to check the specific engine specifications for the particular Polo you are interested in to confirm whether it has a cambelt or chain.
For a VW Polo BlueMotion 1.4L, the cambelt change interval is typically recommended at 60,000 miles or every 4 years, whichever comes first. However, it's essential to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations, as intervals can vary based on the engine code and model year. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent engine damage due to cambelt failure.
around 60 000 miles or less, its up to you, could be costly if you dont change it
I have just paid £120 as they only guarentee the cam belt if they do the pistons at the same time
The head torque settings for a VW Polo 1.6 cylinder head are 40 newton meters with 2- 90 degree turns. Bolts should always be replaced. It is not recommended to reuse the bolts.
you were supposed to tell me that!
