The two conditions aren't comparable. ADD and Autism effects people differently but there are some symptoms that both conditions share such as Executive Dysfunction. How severely someone is effected can vary greatly from person to person and depending on their situation.

Is autism bad?

It depends on your definition of bad. For example, if being different is bad, autism is bad. If viewing the world in a different way, perhaps noticing things that other people have missed, is good, autism is good. There are characteristics of autism that make life more difficult for the person with autism and his or her family. There are characteristics that other people might envy, such as excellent memories. Whether or not autism is bad is a subjective view. You can get opinions, but not definitive answers to that question.

Do you believe autism is a bad thing?

No, as an Autistic person I don't believe autism is a bad thing. Some of us are more severely effected than others and how we're effected can change throughout our lives, but even with unpleasant characteristics autism itself is not a bad thing. The thing that is bad about autism, for all Autistic people, is the misinformation and ableism towards autistic people.

Is it good bad or horrible to have autism?

None of the above. Autism is not good, it's not bad, it just is - being Autistic is thus not good or bad either. Being Autistic (we do not 'have' autism) depends on the individual, some people have more severe symptoms than others and some face more prejudice or abuse than others. It's just like being neurotypical - not good, not bad, it just is.

Is it hard to fight Autism?

It's not hard to fight Autism because there is no reason to fight Autism to begin with. Autism is not a bad things, it's not something people need to fight but Autism is a group of people who deserve to be fought for and not against!

Is ADD connected with Autism?

Yes, ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and autism have a connection in that they often occur together in one individual. Studies indicate that many children with autism also display characteristics typical of ADD/ADHD conditions. Both of these disorders work on the brain and have some of the same symptoms, such as difficulty concentrating, acting impulsively and having difficulties in social situations; therefore, they are often mistaken for each other and incorrectly diagnosed. However, ADD and autism are two separate disorders. Autism affects social communication, sensory processing, and behaviours; whereas ADD affects attention, concentration, and impulsivity. One child can be diagnosed with autism without having ADD, one child can be diagnosed with ADD without having autism, and one child could have both diagnosed. When both of these disorders are present, it may make diagnosing and treating more difficult but will ultimately be manageable through the right treatment. Although ADD and autism are not the same, there is a strong connection between the two disorders and they are commonly found associated with one another. If you see signs of ADD or autism in your child, a proper evaluation should occur to ensure the child is receiving the proper intervention.
