Evaluation
Turkish army like a copy of US Army but age of most of its equipment is 15-20 years older than US army. Most of the soldiers are coming from selective service and not professional ones, however you can say well trained if you compare similar armies. Especially commando divisions are very well trained divisions. It has . It has more 400.000 thousand personnel and easily build up to 1.000.000 personnel. These numbers doesn't include navy, marine, or air forces. As equipment it has 1000 battle worth tanks, rest of the tanks are old. However Turkish army with continuing modernisation projects and plans with building a professional army will be smaller but stronger in near future. As navy it is the most strong navy of that region. As air force, we can say except Israel (as number Russia too) it has most modern powerful force in the region.

Army
A soldier in Turkish language is called Asker. Its plural is Askerler which is used to describe soldiers. Army in Turkish is called Ordu. If you are referring to the elite soldiers of the Ottoman army (which is now defunct), those were called Janissaries.
it doesn't matter how big an army is, it is whether they are well trained and equipped, for example the British Army is't huge but they are well trained and equipped for any situation
the anzacs fought the Turkish army
Very big. A few hundreds of thousands of soldiers. Usually between 300,000 and 500,000 soldiers strong.
