How big can a wild turtle can get?

I've owned a Box turtle for about 5 years now and he grows at a rate of approximately 1/5 of an inch a year.

A fatty meal the night before will render a floating water turtle which can be hard to flush and you may have to attempt to 'break its back' with a wire coathanger to get it down successfully.
