Usually, the doctor mentions teeth the need to see an orthodontist or not. But the overbite can range from an easy 6th month fix to 6 years. As long as it is an overbite and you could tell it is.

It should be about 2-3mm but your ortho will decide when to take them off. I have a little bit bigger overbite, but I'm getting my braces off in a month. It's just because my ortho said that I will be more comfortable with a little bigger overbite. :)

OK for starters its not how big your teeth are, its how many teeth you have. Orthodontists need to make sure you u need to wait out not all of them many of my close friends still have 2 teeth that are gone but not fully grown, not all your teeth need to be grown out but u cant have baby teeth in your mouth you would have to wait till they are all gone.have most of your baby teeth. If you do have all your adult teeth, check with your dentist if you may need braces. if the answer is yes, your dentist will give you a orthodontist to attend once every 2 months/3. At your orthodontist they will take it further. Seeing as I don't know you in person I can't add anything about what you may need. All I can say is that I have braces/ retainers and these have been on for about 1 year. If your under 16 you could receive the treatment on the NHS it depends on how many teeth are exiting in your mouth. not how big they are.

They stretch it out pretty wide but it doesn't really hurt. I recommend putting on a lot of chapstick or lip balm before you go to prevent your lips from getting cut.
