In other words, the meteorite caused an explosion that Humanity's strongest bomb could only dream of achieving.

∙ 10y agoLet's figure it out. If the asteroid was nearly spherical and 10 km in diameter, it would have contained about 300 cubic km of rock, or about 300,000,000,000 cubic meters. One cubic meter of asteroid masses is about 3.5 tonnes, so about 1.05 trillion tonnes. Of course, it's not just the mass (weight) of an asteroid that makes the damage; it's the velocity.
